Tony Bird intrigued early Folkway audiences with his unique voice and repertoire which are both informed by his homeland of Malawi.  His music is a wonderful upbeat synthesis of spirituality, politics and nature of Africa.  A prime example is his classic "Sorry Africa" CD which is filled with songs of optimism, hope and wonder.  Each one seems to represent a different facet of the land he loves and misses.
